Abstract

This work states the need of knowing the social-historical dimension of the subjects for the professional work of the psychologist, as a health worker in its broadest meaning. This is sustained in general -for any level or working field in which the psychologist is- as well as in particular terms related to health diagnosis in the field of community psychology. To say that any health diagnosis needs the social-historical knowledge is valid for the different disciplines of a health team, but has special emphasis in the case of psychology. This has passed, beyond the theoretical ideas to be adopted, "from the individual to the subject", who is no longer thought as a starting point but has become an arrival point, always temporary, never final, never definitive, as it never is a completely closed construction.
